Unit 23 Lesson 3

LO1.2 - What is the best CV?
My Personal CV

CV stands for 'curriculum vitae' and is a formal document that features your qualifications, education, previous employment and some facts about you that makes you stand out from the rest. This document is a vital part of your life as it is what represents you and allows you to venture into the world of work. You will always be asked to provide a CV document whenever going to apply for a job or role in a certain industry. CVs also provide the employers the necessary contact information whether it is needed or not as well as the personal information such as your address. The better presented the CV is, a more professional and positive attitude will come across from yourself, leaving the employer more likely to consider you as a placement for the applying role. It is vital that all history of employment and qualifications are updated as sometimes experience can outweigh the knowledge and vice versa, however, leaving the employer with the knowledge of a positive background will heavily favour your chances in getting that particular role.

LO2.1 - Repurposing

Repurposing media is essentially recycling one piece of work used for a specific medium and then using it for another style of media. This way, the same content can potentially reach out to a new audience and expanding the reach as a new spectrum of media has been introduced.

For example: Nike Football boots
There are many print/online advertisements that include images of the latest release of the Nike football boots. This can be found on the Nike.com website or on other distributing sites such as Sports Direct or ProDirect Soccer.

These exact same or similar images will be used throughout the commercials to promote the launch of the new nike boot collection pack. They may be seen in an animation type video, someone playing in the boots or an abstract montage of different camera shots of the footwear. Doing this is repurposing the media, giving it extra meaning and value as it has been used in multiple ways to gain exposure.

LO2.1 - Physical to Digital

In today's day of age, the world has entered the digital era and everything is processed or completed either online or using some sort of software used specifically for that task. However that is not always the case. Although the vast majority of the world's population have access to digital devices, many generations still do not know how to use and do not learn, creating a gap in the market in the use of digital technology and methods. This leads to them staying with what they know and producing everything physically and not digitally. This can prove to be slightly inconvenient, especially for businesses. The best way to collate evidence is to store is both physically and virtually so there are always backups of each document.

One way of converting documents from a physical piece of paper to appear digitally on your computer screen is through scanning. This is the process of connecting your computer to your printer or scanning device together. Once connected, place your document face down onto your scanner and press scan. All of the document will then process onto the screen and an exact copy with show up virtually.

You may not have a computer or scanner to process anything from physical to digital copies. However, the smart phones we have in our lives now can perform this. There are many applications that you can use that are simply free to download on your device. This is capable on both IOS (Apple) and Android devices and allow you to scan anything you wish to keep copies stored on your mobile phone device.

However, with Apple iPhone devices you can also use the default notes application to scan in documents. Video below shows process:

File Formats

Eg. Susie has a collection of creative media work and wants to know what is the best file format for uploading each medium to her own dedicated website. They have all been digitised, but not necessarily to the most appropriate file format.
