Coloured Resolution   Black and White Resolution These are pictures which we had to adjust the resolution of. We went from 5 DPI all the way to 300 DPI. This shows the change of quality each DPI size has. I used both Photoshop and Indesign for this process.

  In the process of making a magazine, we had to make visualizations of the magazine we are making. Here, we have the cover, contents and double page spread. This is a music magazine reviewing a guitar (Epiphone Les Paul Custom). I will have my own pictures of the guitar, pedals and guitarist and will get them from outside of school, in my house and a few other locations such as music shops. I have chosen this genre of music magazine as it is a big passion in which I have as I play guitar myself and massively influenced by anything rock/guitar music and guitars and guitarists themselves. I will build this magazine up more by the use of both Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, using the characteristics and code and conventions of a magazine as guide lines. I will also get other examples of magazines that primarily focus on this genre of rock and guitars, and use them as inspiration. 

         These magazines are all made by the producer Kerrang!. This is a music magazine which fits into the more metal / rocky music genre and category of magazines. They tell you about the latest news that has came out last week from the top music brands such as the guitar manufactureres, Gibson and Fender etc. or about the hot news of the world's biggest rock bands or even new bands that are on the rise.  All of these magazine covers consist of people who are a significant role model in the music industry. The first being David Grohl of Foo Fighters, which is the big band that is globally known for songs such as Moneky Wrench or Everlong. The interview is about David Grohl and 'How he got his Groove back' and how he picked the guitar up to form the band Foo Fighters after being the drummer of the grunge band, Nirvana. The fact they have included Foo Fighters in big white letters on a black background, on top of the image of Groh...

Here, we done a fire effect with my surname in Photoshop. This was done by typing in my surname, Murphy, in four different colours - Black, Red, Yellow and Orange. I then chose a colour to add a flame effect onto it. I only selected any of the red, yellow or orange as they are the colours in which show the fire. With one of those selected, I go onto 'Filter' on the top bar of Photoshop, and chose 'Liquify'. Instead of clicking places, you can simply use the shortcut 'SHIFT + CTRL + X'. That then brings you to a screen which allows you to shape the layer you was on, and drag it out different ways. You done this with all the colour with exception of the black. To get the shine/reflection underneath the word you have typed. you simply duplicate the layer by simply right clicking on the merged layers of the liquefied red, yellow and orange along with the un-liquefied black, and press duplicate. To do a feather in Photoshop looks good. So the the way to do it is simply get your picture or subject you want feathered and select your marquee tool by pressing M or selecting the second top icon of the tool bar. Once selected, you will see something called feather, usually at 0px. Before you make your selection, you want to increase that number to whatever you like. Here I have done 25px. When you select around the subject with the Marquee or Lasso tool, press CTRL+SHIFT+I or Select > Select Inverse and then you will be left with your subject with a fading to transparent outline like so above... Here is the Montage I created using the feather effect: For this, I have made a collage / montage of different fashion and people who are in the modeling and fashion business. You can see I have done the feathers and made things have a lower opacity and different sizes so you can see other pictures through another picture and fit more on giving the collage effect.

I recently got asked through friends by Broughton Hall Spanish teacher to create a poster promoting their Pyjama Party donations for Christmas 2019. I said I would as it is what I enjoy to do!  To the teachers who see this, if you hear of any posters being made or if anything needs promoting, I will do it! 

This is what Levels on Photoshop does. It simply brings the contrast up and down and the brightness up and down as well. The Higher the number, the brighter it gets , the lower the number, the darker and more contrast there is. With levels, you can make things to have a chrome effect or a shiny plastic effect. I have done this with other things. You just have to play with the levels and colours and you will have that effect.

This picture, I have used the Photo filter and chosen the filter Cooling Filter (82).  It makes the image have a cooler feel to it and gives the image the effect that it is live as the cooling effect gives the effect that the lights for the stage are beaming down at him whilst he performs.  I personally like this filter as it gives the live feel of the image and brings it to life, and i can personally hear a guitar being played in my head because it looks like it is being played live.  I also done the warming filter. For this, I chose a picture of an autumn setting. This is because the warming filter brings over an orange tint over the image giving the warm ascetic feel.  Again, I personally like the feel it brings it. Such as how it makes you cosy and brings a comfortable feel towards you.  These images both bring different vibes and obviously look different, however in a way do the same thing by bringing a vibe to you by sim...

We got asked to experiment with different filters within Photoshop. Some of them do not make any drastic changed to the original image, however some do... The ones that do are quite visible, either they are darker, different colours, look like they have been drawn or sketched or put together with tiles giving a mosaic effect. One shows that it has been coated in chrome, giving that shiny but at the same time, dark metallic effect.  My favorite one out of all of these filters has got to be 'notepaper' in which you find under 'Sketch'. That is because in my opinion, it looks simple but 'classy' as the same time and gives a good effect like blotches of ink have been used to create an image. Another one in which I personally like is 'Coloured Pencils' in which you also find under 'sketch'. This is because it looks like the image has been drawn using actual pencils and the type of image it is, would not be easy  for the real human to do...

Here, I have made the word as a brush preset. I done that by simply selecting the Horizontal Mask Text tool and typing the word. Add color to that to fill in the word and select Edit in the menu bar at the top. You then select that and then select Define Brush Preset and name your brush whatever you want. Then you will select the brush tool and open up the panel and look for the brush you have just made. You then select that, choose whatever color you want, choose the position and size of what you personally prefer.  Here, I have simply just gone black and placed the word 'Masthead' slanted and in rows. There are different methods of doing this, whatever you choose personally does not matter, it is whatever you feel more comfortable with. First of all most, it is best of choosing a more of a bolder font as then you will be able to see the image in text. The first method I used (First and Last) is that you type your word, in my case, 'MASTHEAD'. you do this by holding down the text tool and then selecting the 'Horizontal Type Mask' tool, type your text and then click off, then you will see the marching ants around the text. You then choose your picture and copy it. When going to paste, click on 'Edit' and go down to 'Paste Special' then click on that and select  'Paste Into' or the shortcut 'Alt+Shift+Ctrl+V'. The second method does the same thing but instead of masking the text, you simply copy and paste a picture of your choice with the word in any font you want in choose over it. Personally, I prefer the very last one. This is because it is a technique in which I like to use quite a bit with the edits in which I produce or other work. I got a rectangle tool and stretched it long enough to fit in the word. I then written 'Masthead' and chosen the font 'Century Gothic' as again, it is my favorite font to use when I do my work. I then set the words to Bold and Italic and colored it white so it can be seen better against the dark background. I then duplicated that layer (Ctrl+J) and then set the fill to 0%. After that, I went to the FX tool and selected stroke, set the size so it isn't too thick but isn't too thin either, and set the color to red. I then highlighted the stroke and where previously it stated 'Bold Italic', I just selected 'Bold', which makes the stroked word align back straight and placing the layer on top shows the white to be offline with the stroke, giving a good word effect. 

The first one I simply used the font 'Cooper Black' , colored it white and then selected a red outer glow on FX. The second one, I used the font 'Viner Hand ITC' and colored it green. I then chose the font 'Century Gothic' , set the fill to 0% and used the stroke as a gradient overlay on FX and used the 2 colors green and red. The 4th one, I used the Horizontal warp and squashed them together.
